Teacher: Texans are pretty proud of their state.
Students: Uh-huh.
Teacher: we used to be the biggest state until...(eyebrows raised in that complete-my-sentence look that all teachers do)
Students: The war! Mexico! we sold it! Alaska!
Teacher(terrified then relieved): Yes, Alaska!
Class grumbles at Alaska taking away Texas's "biggest state" honor.
Teacher: Oh, we can't be mad about that. We used to be, but we're not anymore.
A brief pause.
Student from the back of the room mumbles dejectedly: Some of us still are...
