I really love having sons. They're so cute in their dirty grubby way...
Right now Mason is playing baseball in the front yard in the rain with the two boys from across the circle. They're soaking wet and just hollering away. I love it.
And earlier today Mason told me, "I can make a burp even if I don't need one. Anytime I want, I can burp." This was followed by a burp. I laughed and said, "you're such a boy." To which he replied, "yeah. I can do so many things girls just don't understand."
It's good to have boys. Sweet, dirty, bug-lovin', burpin', sticky, grimey, gap-toothed grinning boys.

cheetos.
I very much wish I had a picture of what I'm about to describe because I know that it will not be near as cute in words as it was in actuality.
Grant LOVES cheetos. Loves might be an understatement.
So today I was working at my computer...really...and i had a bag of cheetos on my desk. (yes, we're all about healthy eating here at the wildes...) Grant comes in and does his "give me that" dance with his litte chubby fingers pointing at the cheetos.
"you want a cheeto, grant?" I ask.
Big nods and grins.
"Here you go!"
I hand him one cheeto. He takes it, puts it in his mouth and turns to leave.
"Grant. Want more?"
Cheesy grin with sounds that in toddler-ese certainly mean yes.
I hand him two cheetos. One goes in each hand as he is still chewing the first one.
He turns again to leave.
"Hey grant, wanna another one?"
As I hold out two more cheetos.
This is where it starts getting cute. He's got a cheeto in his mouth and one in each hand, but he's not leaving any cheetos behind. So, with the fine motor skills of a chubby handed 18 month old he lifts one finger from each hand as he tries to squirm the cheetos into his fists.
He grins when he has all four cheetos in his possession, turns to go, but then...
"Grant...here you go." I say as I hold out three little cheetos.
Without hesitation, one fistful of cheetos gets shoved in with the first half eaten cheeto.
But I didn't stop there.
"here you go buddy..." and I hand him more.
and more...
I wish you could have seen the dexterity of his little fists. Tiny stubby fingers were curled around cheetos with such determination! Cheetos were protruding from his powdered cheese coated mouth. The cuteness of seeing his little mind try to figure out how to hold all these cheetos in this rare act of his momma's generosity was adorably cute.
It was on about handful six that I think he got the joke and started giggling at me.
It's fun being a mom.

I heart aperture.

Okay, so I know that this may be boring and stupid for non- camera people but look at my eyes - the eye in the foreground is super crisp. The eye in the background, just a few inches back is super blurry. That, my friend, is amazing stuff right there. And yes, "super crisp" and "super blurry" are totally legitimate photography terms. : )
